Masahiro Sayama began his musical career when he was a student at KUNITACHI COLLEGE of MUSIC COMPOSITION DEPARTMENT.
He has released 18 albums as a leader and 10 albums as a member of PONTA BOX since 1984. His piano playing intensity charms all audiences and he has the confidence of the musicians of all genres who have played with him. In addition, he is highly acclaimed not only as a pianist but also as a producer and arranger. He works with many concert musical directors and also appears on TV programs. He plays an active role as an original member of PONTA BOX.
He solidified his position as one Japan's leading pianists by participating at the Montreux Jazz Festival and through his regular television appearances on Fuji Television Network's "NEWS JAPAN". In November 2003 he performed his first piano solo recital "Masahiro Sayama plays Goldberg" on his 50th birthday at the Tokyo Bunka Kaikan Hall. In January, 2005, he gave the first public performance of "Six Jazz Piano Duets" ,which he produced himself. His shows were a great hit and he performed 15 times and attracted over 30,000 people. In April of the same year, he played with conductor Kazuyoshi Akiyama with the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra and his trio "M's" for the first time. He performed in the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra's Commuter Pass Concerts and through this opportunity came to perform with other orchestras. In November, 2009, he performed another piece that he arranged on stage costarring with the Tokyo symphony orchestra. His performance was well received, and the second series is planned for April 2010. He not only performs with the trio but also collaborates across genres with orchestras such as "JAZZ-RAKUGO" "JAZZ-EHON" and "lectures"
